Douglas D. Asay, CEO
Douglas D. Asay, Chief Executive Officer, has over 30 years experience in the refuse industry. Mr. Asay is well known and respected in the industry as an innovator, progressive manager, and mentor. Doug has served in many capacities during his tenure in the industry, from Maintenance Manager to Corporate Vice President of Operations & Maintenance. Mr. Asay graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with an engineering degree.
Charlie Leonard, President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Leonard has twenty-eight years of waste industry experience with Browning-Ferris Industries, Laidlaw Waste Systems, Allied Waste Industries and Casella Waste Systems. He has served at the executive operating level for 19 of those years ranging from Regional Vice President to Senior Vice President of U.S. Operations and presided over $500 million in annual revenues. He also served as President of a $450 million Division for Service Corporation International. Additionally, during his career he led management teams that worked with Harvard University in developing a corporate customer service delivery system, Towers-Perrin in corporate strategic planning, The Gallup Organization in developing selection/hiring processes, People Tech Inc. for the design in creating corporate culture change and 2 years of personal executive leadership development at the University of North Carolina with Dr. Gerald Bell. Mr. Leonard has belonged to many chartable organizations and churches over the years including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Willow Creek Church in South Barrington, IL. and The Fellowship of Las Colinas in Dallas, TX.
Douglas L. Asay, VP Operations & Maintenance
Douglas L. Asay, Vice President of Operations and Maintenance, has spent more than 20 years managing maintenance and operations in the solid waste industry for Allied Waste and Waste Management, both Fortune 500 companies and the largest providers of solid waste services in North America. He served in many roles to include Regional Operations Manager, Assistant Fleet Director, and Group Manager of Maintenance, Safety, and Quality Assurance. Doug's experience is broad based, encompassing all fleet, customer service, and operational aspects of collection, transfer station, MRF (material recovery facility), landfill, vehicle routing, fleet management, business improvement process (turnarounds), motor carrier management, and equipment procurement. Mr. Asay graduated in 1988 with a technical degree in Automotive / Diesel Transportation Technology from National Education Center's Automotive Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Thomas J Durupt, Corporate Maintenance Manager
Thomas J Durupt, Corporate Maintenance Manager, has developed his fleet maintenance and management expertise with 35 years tenure. He started “in the trenches” as a preventative maintenance mechanic before partnering with his father in Willits, California at D&D Truck Shop and attended Mendocino Community College. After 12 years of running his own business Tom and his wife moved to Hawaii where he worked for the largest Peterbilt dealership in the state and served as a technical instructor at Honolulu Community College. In 1996 Mr. Durupt began working in the solid waste industry when he was hired by Browning-Ferris Industries (Allied Waste) as a maintenance supervisor; he has been promoted numerous times since with progressive responsibility. He has successfully managed multiple solid waste fleets throughout the Western United States and has served as a general manager with Waste Connections.
